Beez Needz

Someone experienced at beekeeping once told me that first-time beekeepers are rarely successful. I thought for sure we would be an exception to that rule… We were not. We made a number of mistakes, including adding supers before they had filled up the first one. Not treating them for mites early enough in the year. Not feeding them enough to keep them strong. And consequently, they could not defend or hit the hive through the winter and expired in a sad little huddle on the bottom of the hive.

This year, we are starting with a “nuc” and we’re hoping it will give them a better chance of growing into a strong hive that produces enough honey to share with us.
